IPhone not charging with iMac

Connect — disconnect — connect — disconnect — con…

It was driving me crazy. I saw that my iPhone was charging and then got disconnected. I blamed my cable and went for a new one. Result was the same: different cable, same shit. I used to have a sign on my door that said: “Same shit, different day”  …

I googled and didn’t find an answer immediately. But this blog saved my day. It gave the perfect solution for me:

So hopefully someone googles this and doesn’t buy useless extra cables 🙂

(English) Mac OS X unzip large files

As a developer I tend to use virtual machines a lot. After a couple off terrible failures, I tend to make backups every once in a while. Store a working copy on my NAS and copy that one, if needed on multiple devices. (Mac / Windows / Ubuntu … Computer or laptop)

But unzipping was a problem on my iMac. These things tend to grow and end up in a 10GB file.

The answer was simple: download Unarchiver and make this the default app. That makes me a happy Apple user once again!

Kaartlezer Mac

Well at this point I am learning the mysterious features and endless possibilities that the Raspberry Pi can give us … but as always: when you’re learning something, following the defaults steps –> You always end up looking for a couple off not mentioned bugs.

I learned that the newer Pi versions don’t have SSH enabled by default. “Oh dear”  .. no worries. Nothing more than adding an empty textfile with the name SSH on the disk.

But here it starts. Inserted the shipped memory card with the adapter in the iMac SD card reader SLOT. It showed up for a second and dissapeared to never been seen again….”oh my .. oh dear”

I saw a Youtube movie from someone with a same problem on a MacBook Pro. He showed that the problem was the insert off the card: if you stop 1 or 2 mm before total insertion: it will show up again!

Can you believe that? ?
